Vedic Astrology
Vedic Astrology or 'Jyotisha' is the scientific study and application of the knowledge of heavenly bodies. It uses accurate astronomical data and mathematical calculations to determine the positions of the planets in relation to the Earth at the time of birth, in order to foretell the future events of a person's life. It dates back to over 7000 B.C. and is based on the Vedas, the most sacred Hindu scriptures that embody eternal knowledge. The most authoritative text written on the subject of Jyotisha is a Sanskrit work entitled Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, authored by the sage Maharishi Parashara. |
