Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. As far as the basics go, I was born and raised in the USA and have had the opportunity to live in Chicago, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and now Saint Louis. I completed my residency in internal medicine in June of 2014 and am currently a post-doctoral research fellow in Gastroenterology at Wash U. I'm definitely a Midwesterner at heart! My major hobbies include gardening, photography, reading, cooking and baking. I've also been involved in the martial arts for about 20 years--it's definitely something that will always be a part of my life, wherever my journey takes me. I also love to travel and have been fortunate enough to have traveled abroad quite a bit. My travel stories range from being chased by monkeys in Tanzania to studying Arabic with a little girl in Turpan, China. I've been to India and the UK several times to visit family, as well as Brazil, Kenya, Tanzania, China, Japan, Spain, Ecuador, Peru, and the... more Galapagos.
Personality-wise, I'm loyal, easy going and down-to-earth but am also very focused and hard-working. I can be as serious as I can be silly and I love to laugh. I always appreciate an adventurous spirit, an open mind, and a great sense of humor. I've been quite independent for most of my life but I'm definitely looking for the special person to complement my personal qualities. I'm anything but simple. I'm complex, nuanced, and passionate. I'm looking for someone who can keep up with me in spirited debates, shares my curiosity about the world, isn't afraid to try something new (including assorted baked goods that might be passed your way), and can laugh at themselves and the silly things life throws our way.
My family values education, respect for all people, hard work, and independence. We're a bit on the non-traditional side when it comes to our approach to visiting and living in other countries--both of my parents grew up in East Africa and have emigrated to the UK and Brazil before coming to the US--so our connection to India is a bit different from the majority of people we've met along the way. That being said, I can't complain about the fact that my parents got to live in Rio for three years! I've been fortunate to have visited all the places they've lived in--it makes me feel more connected to them because of that.
I am not able to send messages through this site at this time. Please include contact info or reach out to me via an e-mail if we are mutually interested in each other. I prefer to initiate conversations via e-mail before telephone, but I understand if it's easier to send a text message beforehand. I am looking for someone who lives in the US currently and is preferably a US citizen or permanent resident (or in the final stages of getting either of these).
That's all for now. Please don't hesitate to reach out and say hello. Happy searching everyone!
