My upbringing can be summarized by the following words: `simple living and high thinking'-something i heard my mom say early in my childhood. I would describe myself as simple, honest, a little bit emotional but mighty tough. I believe in the strength of morals but during the course of my life i have also learned to accept weaknesses - both of others and my own. I was born in a small village near Malout in Punjab, India but was extremely lucky to get to go to a good school and have educated parents and so I went on to study at DPS RK Puram in New Delhi and then at the most prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. I then did my Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, Indiana and am now doing my PhD in mechanical engineering from University of California at Berkeley.
I believe, and I say this from experience that a truly fulfilled human being can only be realized as a result of proper Mental, Physical and Social stimulation. I like to read a variety of books since I happen to believe that you eat to feed your body while you read to feed your soul. Reading the fiction works of John Grisham is a favorite pastime. He deals with the struggles of ordinary people and yes, he doles out hope while his wondrous characters fight the righteous fight and inspire you to do the same. Lately I have been going through a book on speeches by Abraham Lincoln and the inspiration comes from Mr. Obama himself. I have been playing Tennis since my 7th grade when i just fell in love with the game. I represented my school at the State championship when I was 16. I lost and instead became an engineer but the game is my life and I promise to teach for free whoever the lucky lady happens to be. I also play some other games at times but mostly i like to workout and make sure i get some good exercise before i start my day.
I keep my friends mighty close to my heart and I will admit most of them have earned it. That said, I think of myself as a very friendly person who likes to hang out with everybody irrespective of race, color, gender and familiarity. I don't drink or smoke and tend to avoid late night hangouts. So if you are a big party girl, I might not be your type although I can unleash myself on the dance floor just to confuse my drink and dance buddies. I like the outdoors which is the kind of social interaction I really love. I have been on backpacking trips to some beautiful national parks around california and have come to know some very nice people in the process. I am a member of the Cal Sailing club and I like being on water.
I have a few more years of Graduate studies left and I will consider my options when I have my PhD degree in hand. If you have read until this point, i assume you agree that finding a life partner can be a tough job :) If you think we have something in common I would love to hear from you. Thanks for reading.
