As I think about it, in any personal relationship, it's not about matching education, work, interest or hobbies. In essence, it all boils down to emotional/mental compatibility. Having said that, it is difficult to initiate a conversation without knowing about the person. So, here's a start -
By way of introduction, I work as a vice president (VP) in a Big 4 in India. I returned last year around the same time after completing a 2 year assignment in United States. From a professional accreditation perspective, I am a Chartered accountant and hold certificate course in management from Harvard Business School.
As a person, I enjoy intellectual stimulating conversation (thoughts can be poles apart but what's important is an open mind, respect for each other and an amenable approach), small pleasures of life (like smell of mud just before rains), nature (it leaves me amused every time I'm close to it) and spending time with family. ... more
I believe 'whatever happens, happens for your own good and life mein badi khushiyan kam milte hai, isliye choti khushiyon ko bade roop mein enjoy karo'.. sounds too philosophical, right :). Both at work and at home, I prefer lighter air. So, you'll find me up with a notorious humour :)
My job profile involves interaction with people across the world which has helped shape a global outlook and appreciate things differently. The U. S. assignment further strengthened it. Leading a large team of 100+ has sharpened my emotional quotient - it's like leading a large family. Keeping this family in tact and happy requires understanding of each person's interest, care and nurturing careers (I often get remarked that I own my team and go an extra step at times at my own cost but the reward of turning a colleague to a friend for life is in itself a rewarding experience; we walk through life only once leaving our footprints behind so cherish everything it offers).
Coming to what I am looking for - As I said above, while it's not a checklist, I guess I would enjoy the companionship of someone who has a global outlook but is an "Indian at heart" (by values not birth.. someone who appreciates the finer aspects of our culture), respects and encourages individuality, is calm/patient/has an amenable approach, willing to explore and enjoy growing together. To that, add a pinch of care, love and humour would be just perfect :)
