Phew.. Its not as easy as it seems.. Hence a genuine salute to all those ppl out there who have taken the pain to complete the short Autobiography required at this site. Of course it goes without saying that the number of Ghost writers (Read: Parents writing the profile) is phenomenal.
So after years of procrastination, and threats from my parents to portray me as an ideal match, I finally decided to paint a truer picture of myself.
Born to Mallu parents, I have lived in Delhi for the first 21 years of my life, making it my Home town. My Parents hail from Palghat Kerala, my father having shifted to Delhi in the late 70s and my mother following suit after their marriage. My Father recently retired from Voltas Ltd as a Senior Executive and is currently working with another business enterprise. My Mother currently works as a Vice Principal in a school in Delhi. I have a sister who is currently pursuing her MBA from a reputed university, Delhi.
To avoid... more this sounding like a Job interview, I shall try and be as non-academic as possible.
Post my schooling, I had 2 options.. To study Medicine or take up Maths (Hons) at that tongue twister of a college.. The full name takes up lot of space.. So we shall refer to it as Venky..
Euclid won.. Was never much of a "Hippocrate" anyway. So thereon started my love and hate relationship with Maths (Hons).
Considering MCA was the in-vogue degree in those times, its an interesting story (involves a chaat vendor) of how i got inspired to do an MBA. However to spare you the details, sat for CAT, got into NMIMS, Mumbai.
Mumbai... Changes the way one views the world, self, relationships. Infact redefines the word " professionalism". I totally love the city and as of now, at the risk of being sent a showcause notice by MNS, plan to settle down in the city.
Post a very eventful MBA, I got placed with the RPG group. Started off working for CEAT tyres as a Brand Manager based out of Mumbai and later part of a cross-functional stint handled sales for Rajasthan based out of Udaipur . Was picked for a group transfer and moved to Saregama HMV, another RPG group company for a period of 2 years. Also headed marketing for a edutainment company for a brief period of time.
Currently working as Director- Marketing (South Asia) with British Council based out of Mumbai.
Writing brings intermittent joy, running on the other hand gives a high paralleled only by a fascinating book or a deliciously twisted movie-ending. Been backpacking for some years now to the realization that travelling not only breaks stereotypes but also allows you that very precious time with one-self. Other interests include research on running shoes and debating on the humour quotient of PG Wodehouse vs Salinger.
At this point in time, I believe that I am ready to settle down with a life partner. However, I am not in a tearing hurry to get married by just looking at a profile. I believe that when its a question of a life partner, one needs to spend some quality time before a decision of such magnitude is made. I am looking for someone who is intelligent, witty, seeks and appreciates independence and has a very cool outlook towards life.
