We are a Gujarati family settled in Delhi with a well-established business from the last 75 years. We live in a joint family where we have been ingrained with a deep sense of family and cultural values, yet we have always had our fair share of freedom to think independently. Staying in a big family has taught us to share, to respect individuality, and to compromise at times to make others happy.
Immediate family comprises our father who is a well established entrepreneur, mother a well-planned homemaker, elder sister married and settled in the US and working as a textile designer in New York; and younger sister for whom we are seeking a suitable match.
Extended family includes father's elder brother, his wife and their children who are married and settled across India. Despite the physical distances, we are always there for each other and live as one family.
My sister has obtained her Masters degree in... more MSc in Management with specialisation in Business Finance from University of York, UK; and her bachelor's degree in B.Com (Hons) from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. She has always been among the top rankers in her academia and her random plans of pursuing a new subject or further studies take us by surprise at times! She loves to learn, be it anything in life; and is always ready with a different perspective about things in life. No wonder, she loves to engage in good conversations.
She is smart, intelligent, inquisitive, honest, fun-loving, upbeat and I think she's funny too. She is respectful of elders, more spiritual than religious, non-judgemental, sociable and not that much of a foodie! (Sad!)
Her interests include travelling (she has managed to travel quite a bit across the world), photography, dancing, driving, etc. She recently picked up dad's lost interest of learning the guitar (still amateur at it, but I'm sure she'll pick up soon). Besides all this, she has worked as a tax consultant with PwC for the last 4 years.
I think she would get along well with someone who is funny and witty (a good conversationalist), grounded (it's good to have your feet on the ground), upbeat (life is tough at times, and an upbeat attitude definitely helps to sail through with strength), focused, fun-loving, loves to travel, etc. More importantly, a person with a good heart who can act like a son to our family because my sister will be a wonderful daughter to any parents.
