| Which all members do I get on my IM chat online member list? |
Your Online Member List has three groups:
- Accepted Members: All your accepted members who are online will be available on your online member list.
- Shortlists or more: All members you have shortlisted, expressed interest or have sent requests in any form e.g. photo request, phone verification request or photo password request, who are online will be available on your online member list.
- Members I am looking for: All members matching your partner preference who are online will be available on your online member list.

| How do I start a conversation with a member? |
Only premium members can initiate a chat with other online premium or free members.
You can see which members are online by clicking the IM toolbar at the bottom right of any Shaadi.com
page. A green icon will appear next to a member who is online and available to chat.
To start chatting with a member, simply click on the member name or photo. A small chat window next
to your chat buddy list will open. Start typing your message and then press "Enter" or "Return" on your
computer keyboard.
Please note that if you chat with any non accepted members, then an interest will also be sent to the
other member along with your first chat message.

| Can I search for online members and chat with them? |
You can search for online members by:
- Go to "Partner Search"
- Go to "Who is online" tab
- Fill in your search criteria and click on "Search"
- On the search result page, on the left refine panel, click on the link "Available for chat".
This will give you a list of all the members matching your search criteria and who are online and available for chat.You can go to the member's profile click on "Chat Now" to start chatting.
Please note that you cannot initiate chat with members who have filtered profiles like yours. However, you can send an expression of interest and chat only after he/she accepts your interest.

| Who can initiate chat with me? What do I do when I receive a chat request? |
Members who are part of your accepted members list and premium member who you have not filtered would be able to send you a chat request whenever you are online. Whenever you receive a chat request, a new chat window opens up in your chat bar and you are notified by blinking.
If the member is already accepted members, feel free to chat with the person so that you can get to know them better. Once you are comfortable with the person you can always share your personal contact information with them and take your next step towards finding a right match.
If the member however is not on your accepted member list we recommend you first check their profile. You can do this by
- Click on the chat window of that member
- Click on the "Actions" link on top of the chat window
- Click on "View profile"
You can then do any one of the following:
- Chat with the member and get to know them better
- Accept the members expression of interest and continue to chat with the member
- Decline the member if and prevent him from chatting with you, if you find the profile is not suitable for you.

| If I am already chatting with someone and do not wish to be disturbed by getting more chats what can I do? |
You can be invisible to all members while you can continue to chat with members. You can so this by
- Click on "Chat" in the bottom IM toolbar.
- Click on the options icon next to "I am online"
- Select "Invisible" if you continue to chat but want to appear offline to other members

| I do not wish to receive chat request when I am browsing on Shaadi.com what do I do? |
You can appear offline to everyone by
- Click on "Chat" in the bottom IM toolbar.
- Click on the options icon next to "I am online"
- Select "Go offline" if you wish to close / sign off Shaadi.com chat

| How can I block / stop chatting with a particular member? |
For all the members present in 'Accepted members' list or 'Shortlist and more' list, you can cancel the expression of interest by:
- Go to your "Accepted members". Then go to the members profile and click on "Decline/Cancel Interest in him"
- You can go to the members profile and click on "Decline Interest in him" or "Cancel Interest in him"
Please note that you can also report abuse by clicking on the "Report Abuse" on the actions bar of that member's chat window.

| Can I view the chat history with a particular member? |
To view the chat history, please follow the steps below:
- Click on "Chat" in the bottom toolbar.
- Move over on the member whose chat history you want to view.
- You will get basic details of the member. Click on the "Chat History" link to view the chat history.
- You can also click on the member name. A chat window will open up. Click on "Action" and "Chat history" to open the chat history in another window<
